It's high time the passion and expertise in the social sector benefited from the modern data analytic tools to improve outcomes for those whom we serve. We believe we are just at the beginning of this data-driven social impact journey, and there is a huge amount of potential to make an impact. Can we improve outcomes in a program by 20%, 50%? Can we reduce the costs of delivering services? Can we prove what works, for whom, under what conditions and use this to do better? Can we use predictive analytics to identify risks early in a program (including risks of disengagement and a program failing)?
The answer is yes to all those questions - we just need to win the hearts and minds of social sector leaders to focus on outcomes, use the sophisticated tools that now exist, and go on the journey to become data-driven. That's the goal of this community - to accelerate our collective journey to better outcomes using data and evidence.

How you can use the community

We’re focused on the skills, methods and ideas that will make a big difference to how we use data to understand, deliver and innovate for social impact. Here are a few of the things you’ll be able to do as a member of Data Impact Journey:

• Exchange ideas and best practices with experienced not-for-profit leaders, nurturing your skills in leading change with data.
• Access a platform for sharing and learning innovative data collaboration techniques.
• For some organisations, you will be able to join the data sharing and collaboration projects where common datasets are shared across a sector
• Option to go further on the data impact journey over time with support across governance, analysis and dashboarding, from data specialists.

We have just launched the community and will grow it along with the data collaboration work that we do, but we welcome others who are committed to improving how social organisations use data.
